The Bunyadi restaurant, which has opened its doors in London, is a pub where customers can enjoy drinks and food while being naked. It sounds like a joke, but the pub has attracted a lot of public interest before it was even opened. Six months before the opening day, almost all the tables were booked. The Bunyadi looks like a typical British pub from the outside, and the building stands out only in that there are security guards at the door and all the windows are blindly tinted. The owners of the restaurant hide his address under nine locks and reveal it only to customers who have booked the table for dinner, because it is impossible to come in and have a dinner there randomly.
Experience and Customers
As soon as the clients enter from outside, a smiling bartender against a bar that looks like from the old movies about mafia greets everyone, offers a glass of water, and shows where the changing rooms are. After leaving all their belongings in the lockers and wrapped in white robes and slippers, visitors are invited to sit at the bar. Here, the bartender makes traditional and unusual cocktails, the great jazz music is playing, and the smell of incense is flying in the air.
After your cocktail, it is time to take off your clothes and have a dinner. A £69 dinner for a person consists of 5 meals. Each visitor can choose from two menus: vegetarian and regular. According to the chef, he prepares the meals from organic or biodynamic food only. Although the menu is made for a long time, it sometimes varies according to seasonal products and their prices on local farms. While it is not necessary to undress, employees say that most clients tend to taste food while being naked. Most of the time, customers undress because they pay a lot of money for such an experience. Also, the waiters are almost naked, so if you sit with your clothes on, you can feel uncomfortable on your own.
Interior and Food
As the idea of the restaurant is naturalistic, it is forbidden to bring any of your belongings to the dining room. A table is prepared for customers and it is surrounded by a two-meter-high bamboo fence, as a result, visitors cannot see other people except the ones they came with. In the sauna-like hall, decorated with dried herbs, the only light source is candles. Tables and chairs are made of wooden stumps, food and drinks are served in earthenware plates. Visitors eat using wooden pins or tablespoons, as there is no cutlery in the restaurant.
Friendly waiters tell customers about each dish, its ingredients, method of preparation, and recommend the best choice of wine. According to the employees, they care about the opinion of very customer, because the restaurant is new, so a further business strategy is planned taking into account the needs of the people. After each dish, the waiters ask what they liked and what was wrong. Clients are asked to compare both vegetarian and meat dishes from both menus.
